About the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)

The Inter-Tribal Council of Alabama's WIOA program is a federally funded program through the Department of Labor. The program allows American Indians, Alaskan Natives, and Hawaiian Natives to take advantage of social and economic benefits through continuing education and work experience. Congress passed the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) law in 1998, It became fully effective on July 15, 2015. Section 166 of WIOA provides special funding to Indians and Native Americans.
